Chapter Bonanza (5/5)

━━ 🐈‍⬛ ━━

Perhaps because of the contrast with Qiyu’s earlier remarks, when “Dare Not Open My Eyes” spoke, the players in the region chat were actually moved.

【Dare Not Open My Eyes: Does this count? Is this what they call “the big brother has a tough exterior, but a soft heart”?】

【A Stray By The Road: Is this what the top player is like?】

【Irritable Brother: When it comes to action, he really goes all out, but he really does hold his tongue when it comes to words?】

【Dare Not Open My Eyes: The gaming big shot really doesn’t care what people think of him.  I’m only speaking up because I can’t stand seeing people blindly follow the crowd and bash him.】

【Liver Emperor: Don’t worry, nobody dares to bash me anymore. The big shots in the gaming world are being added to the blacklist one by one.】

“My Fate is Determined By Me, Not The Heavens” was still doing well.

Just by giving up a little bit of supplies, he can earn such heartfelt gratitude from players—and, as a bonus, take a dig at I Love Survival Game.

What a rush.

But who would’ve thought that the guy behind “I Love Survival Game” doesn’t play by the rules at all?

How dare he say that? Does he really not care about his reputation at all? Isn’t he afraid of becoming the public enemy of the entire server?

However, he didn’t expect that the players in the region were actually such cowards. In the blink of an eye, they were sucking up to him again.

And because of all these twists and turns, right now, everyone seems to have forgotten about him—the one who took the initiative to provide supplies and put in the effort—and is instead all talking about “I Love Survival Game.”

So frustrating!

Why didn’t that disaster fruit just kill him?

He doesn’t know if it was because of that harrowing mental attack they’d endured earlier that day, but that night, the screaming lily of the valley remained completely quiet. Players in Server 201 finally got a rare, peaceful night’s sleep.

Qiyu slept in his brand-new second-floor bedroom.

Rain pounded against the glass window, pat-pat, creating a soothing, lulling rhythm.

That battle earlier that day—though it seemed to last only a brief moment—was in fact extremely perilous. Even though Qiyu had long since grown accustomed to life-or-death situations, he still couldn’t help but feel a lingering sense of dread,

But the mental exhaustion was very real.

For once, he didn’t practice his cultivation that night, allowing himself to sink into a peaceful sleep.

…He was woken up in the middle of the night by the cold.

When he realized the temperature felt off, Qiyu glanced at the time on his survival panel: 3 a.m. The rain was falling even harder against the window.

He turned on the wall lamp, and a warm yellow glow filled the room.

Through the glass window, he could see the “bright sunflower” still diligently radiating light amidst the heavy rain.

The temperature on the Survival Panel hadn’t updated yet, but it was clearly colder—he could feel it. Qiyu rummaged through his backpack, pulled out the pajamas he’d laid out earlier, and put them on.

The soft, plush fabric enveloped him like a cloud.

He sat on the bed, lost in thought for a moment.

A peaceful night, warm yellow light, not a bit of hunger in his stomach, and no pain in his body. The little house stood sturdy, keeping all the wind and rain out.

Safe, peaceful, and happy. Thank you, Survival Game.

Last night felt like a very pleasant dream.

Qiyu couldn’t recall the details clearly; he only remembered scattered fragments of scenes—the Forest of Stars, his domain, his plants, and vast fields of mist star flowers blooming like a silver sea of stars. The orange cat merchant rolled around in the sea of stars, excitedly telling him that a golden apple tree had sprouted.

Then the God Has No Form suddenly appeared and said he wanted to use the golden apples to cook a delicious meal.

Qiyu smiled as he savored the memory for a moment, and the next, the sky was bright with dawn. His life was now perfectly suited for the survival game.

【Current Location: Forest of Stars.】

【Today’s Weather: Heavy rain, 13°C–22°C, Wind Force 4.】

It had indeed gotten colder.

After washing up, Qiyu changed into his Guardian robes.

The rain was even heavier than yesterday, and the white curtain of rain obstructed visibility. The news was that the rain had returned to its normal color and was no longer the black disaster rain.

However, his personal panel showed that the luck-reducing effect from yesterday’s disaster rain was still active, lasting for three days. Qiyu was worried about his plants.

Upon seeing him, a small cluster of green figures flapped their wings in the downpour and gathered around him.

Qiyu raised his hand, using the sleeves of his robe to shield them from the rain.

“It’s raining this hard—don’t worry about me. Go find shelter.” The emerald bee swarm buzzed, seemingly understanding his words, and quickly scattered.

The seeds of the screaming lily of the valley he’d planted yesterday had ripened.

The heavy rain seemed to have little effect on the mutated plants; even in such a downpour, not a single petal had fallen from those delicate-looking little lily-of-the-valleys.

Qiyu harvested them.

【Obtained screaming lily of the valley x1988.】

【Obtained screaming lily of the valley Seeds x200.】

This harvest was even better than the last one; the seeds dropped just as smoothly as before. The nightmare pumpkins have also ripened.

The nightmare pumpkin is a mutation of the rainbow pumpkin seed; at the time, Qiyu had planted only one seed. It was a melon as big as a melon plate, and as usual, Qiyu kept one for himself.

It looks rather sinister, but in reality, the orange-yellow melon is quite attractive—one might even say it has a certain cute, unique charm.

While Qiyu felt he could handle the effects of the evil honeydew melon and was even curious to try it, the Nightmare Pumpkin completely killed his desire to give it a shot.

It’s raining too hard, so for now, Qiyu has no plans to plant the “irritable tomatoes” or “evil honeydew melon seeds.” He’s not sure if the weather will change, so he’ll wait and see for a bit.

After a night of growth, the blood thorn vine had expanded considerably; it now seemed to cover about a third of the fence area. It looked like it was only a matter of time before it completely encircled the fence and claimed the entire area as its own territory.

As Qiyu was thinking this, the blood-red vine before his eyes, right under his gaze, slowly… changed color.

The once strikingly bold blood-red vine seemed as if someone had splashed dye over it; it shed its vivid outer layer, and even its sharp thorns retracted.

In less than three minutes, the striking, showy blood thorn vine had vanished.

What lay before Qiyu was a lush, green fence that looked completely harmless.

A minute later, small flower buds began to appear on the green vines, and delicate white blossoms emerged from among the green leaves.

A new log entry was posted in the Farmer’s Section.

【After being bathed in the disaster rain overnight, your blood thorn vine has mutated.】

【Demon Vine (Green): Mutated magical plant. Do not be deceived by its sweet appearance. Skills: Blood Thorns, Parasitism, Camouflage. Can grow.】

Qiyu stepped closer and noticed that the information on the fence had changed.

【Demon Vine Fence (Green): After being parasitized by the demon vine, your fence forms a symbiotic relationship with the vine.】

Qiyu stared blankly at that line of text.

So, could his fence still repair itself automatically using wood?

As if sensing his confusion, a tender green vine cautiously reached out and gently waved at him. Just as Qiyu reached out to touch it, it quickly shot back with a “whoosh.”

Qiyu:?

As if to show him, a vine dangled down from the fence, its pure white blossoms fluttering in the breeze—soft and harmless.

The next moment, the tiny white flowers snapped open; their stamens transformed into sharp fangs, the vine instantly turned blood-red, and its rounded leaves all turned into razor-sharp thorns.

As soon as the petals opened, Qiyu had already leaped backward. Clearly, this scene reminded him of some unpleasant experiences.

The vine, which had transformed into a monstrous form in an instant, clearly hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from the lord. It swayed bewilderedly in midair a couple of times before cautiously retracting.

The vine returned to its harmless appearance, and the little white flowers looked pitifully fragile in the rain.

Qiyu:?

Is this the demon vine’s camouflage ability?

He reminded himself that he was currently in a survival game, and this demon vine was one of his subjects. It wasn’t a mutated plant from the apocalypse, and it wouldn’t harm him.

Exhaling softly, he walked over, raised his hand, and gently ran his fingers along the fence.

There were no bloodthirsty thorns; the tiny white flowers and emerald-green round leaves lay quietly still.

“It can grow…” He repeated the phrase to himself, his eyes gradually brightening.

Sure enough, he’d have to set aside some time to finish reading *The Magical Plant Encyclopedia*; his current understanding of the demon vine just wasn’t enough. The survival game only mentioned that the demon vine could grow—but it didn’t tell him what it ate, did it? 5

If he could successfully raise the demon vine, would that mean his shelter would henceforth possess a protective item with limitless potential for growth?

Qiyu now regretted not using a container to collect some rainwater when it rained yesterday.

This mutation caused by the disaster rain is incredibly useful.

He cast a blessing spell on the demon vine.

It was supposed to be a routine action, but unexpectedly, after absorbing the blessing spell, a message popped up above the demon vine.

【Your subject, the demon vine, has grown by one level.】

Does magic actually work?

Although he couldn’t see any visible growth in the demon vine with the naked eye, Qiyu cast another blessing spell anyway.

【Your subject, the demon vine, has grown.】

This time, as Qiyu carefully monitored the magic’s status, he sensed something was off: what the demon vine was consuming didn’t seem to be blessing magic at all. He decided not to use magic this time and instead directly channeled a unit of mana into it.

Sure enough, the demon vine absorbed it all, and the same message popped up.

Does this mutated plant consume magical energy? Does it consume mental energy as well?

Qiyu tentatively channeled a bit of mental energy into it, and the same prompt sounded. It even consumes mental energy!

For some reason, a strange association popped into his mind.

He took the cucumber—which he’d already taken a bite out of—from his backpack and held it out.

A vine slowly extended and wrapped around the melon, carrying it away.

Lush flowers and leaves wrapped around the entire melon, accompanied by a creaking sound.

In just a few seconds, the vine unfurled, and the cucumber had vanished.

【Your subject, the demon vine, has completed one feeding and grown slightly.】

Qiyu looked at the demon vine in amazement—it really could eat just about anything.

Eager to try more, he rummaged through his backpack, ready to continue playing… experimenting.

A message from “God Has No Form” interrupted his enthusiasm.

He sent a message about today’s breakfast and grumbled:

【God Has No Form: It’s starting to heat up here today. It’s getting hot.】

Qiyu immediately returned to the shelter, and only after getting back did he take out his food.

It was pancakes again—golden brown on both sides, rolled up with thin slices of meat, golden-yellow egg, and finely shredded cucumber.

【God Has No Form: It’s highly likely the hot weather will continue, so from now on I might cook in batches and store them in my backpack to keep them fresh. Cooking in this heat is a real hassle.】

【I Love Survival Game: It’s the exact opposite here—it’s been raining nonstop, and the temperature has dropped.】

Both sides are speculating about the situations they might face next.

【God Has No Form: I was thinking, if the weather becomes even more extreme, perhaps the two of us could join forces?】
