As dusk was falling, the two returned to the residence Leslie had arranged.
Leslie and Jin Qian had already changed into traditional attire from Gold Hole City; perhaps because of the God of Spring Festival, the colors were exceptionally vibrant and bright.
Qiyu and Dan Xingyu were each given a set as well.
As luck would have it, the remaining two sets happened to be the exact same style.
Leslie stood nearby, chuckling: “First come, first served. Don’t blame us for picking out the best ones first.”
Jin Qian was a bit more honest and spoke his mind: “These two sets are way too bright; they wouldn’t look good on us.”
He glanced at the two handsome guys in front of him and nodded solemnly: “Only people like you—who’d look good even in a burlap sack—can pull these off.”
Qiyu looked at the clothes.
The traditional attire of Gold Hole City, for both men and women, consists of loose, oversized robes. These garments have a white satin base, embroidered with colorful thread depicting all kinds of flowers, green leaves, butterflies, and little bees.
As Leslie put it: The God of Spring Festival is all about wearing spring on your body.
Dan Xingyu had been in an exceptionally good mood ever since, and he urged Qiyu, “Hurry up and change—it’ll be getting dark soon.”
Qiyu couldn’t figure out why he was suddenly in such a rush, especially since he’d been so relaxed just a moment ago during their walk.
He carried the garment into the room. Though it looked unassuming, it was actually quite complicated to put on and very heavy.
It wasn’t until the servant guided him that Qiyu finally managed to put it on.
“This outfit suits you perfectly,” the servant said, gazing at him with admiration and offering enthusiastically, “And there’s a floral wreath—would you like me to help you put it on?”
Having already put on such a heavy outfit, Qiyu replied, “Then could you please—”
“Let me do it.”
Dan Xingyu’s voice came from the doorway.
Qiyu turned to look at him; Dan Xingyu was wearing a robe almost identical to his own.
With his bright eyes and sparse eyebrows, tall stature, and long legs, he exuded a dashing, carefree air; even in such an elaborate robe, he managed to radiate a crisp, sharp elegance.
Taking just a few strides to Qiyu’s side, Dan Xingyu scrutinized him closely, bent down to pick up the floral wreath from the side, and carefully placed it on Qiyu’s head.
He took a step back to admire the sight and exclaimed, “The God of Spring has come to my side.”
Qiyu said with certainty, “You’re complimenting my looks.”
Dan Xingyu corrected him, “You look exceptionally good.”
He didn’t really care whether he looked good or not; Qiyu just felt that wearing this elaborate outfit made both him and Dan Xingyu seem more valuable.
He said, “Let’s go find Jin Qian and the others.”
“Wait a minute.”
Dan Xingyu walked over to him, adjusted their positioning, and took a photo using the survival panel.
【The God Has No Form: (Photo) Check this out.】
Qiyu tapped to open it—it was a photo of him and Dan Xingyu together.
Dan Xingyu whispered, “I’m going to be too reluctant to send you messages from now on.”
“Why?”
“You can’t save the photos, and if there are too many messages, this one will get pushed to the top.”
Upon hearing this, Qiyu asked him, “Dan Xingyu, is it that you’ll miss our photo together, or that you’ll miss the photo of us wearing this outfit?”
Dan Xingyu: “What’s the matter?”
Qiyu didn’t think this was hard to solve: “If it’s that you’ll miss our photo together, we have a teleportation portal—we can see each other every day. I can take a new one with you every day. “
That way, we won’t have to worry about it getting pushed to the top.
“If it’s because you like this outfit, wait a minute—I’ll go find Leslie and buy them. Whenever you want to see them in the future, we’ll just put them on.”
Dan Xingyu took a soft breath.
He met the local’s clear eyes—black and white in sharp contrast, with his own reflection inside.
He couldn’t help but reach out and cup them in his palm.
Qiyu:?
The local boy blinked, his soft eyelashes brushing against his palm.
“If I didn’t know you had absolutely no interest in me, I …”
His hand was gently pushed away. Qiyu asked, “Why are you covering my eyes?”
Dan Xingyu was silent for a moment before saying, “You’re so handsome—you’ve dazzled me.”
Qiyu looked skeptical: “Then you should be covering your own eyes.”
There was a knock at the door, and Leslie’s voice rang out from outside: “Lord Qiyu, are you ready? The carriage to take us out has already arrived.”
Dan Xingyu opened the door for them.
“Wow!” Jin Qian exclaimed upon seeing them. “I knew those outfits would only look good on the two of you.”
Leslie was even more enthusiastic: “I should’ve suggested signing you up for the City Lord’s Mansion’s main float spot. Dressed like this, you look even better than those God of Spring Festival!”
The group boarded the Borg Chamber of Commerce carriage and soon arrived at the main area of the God of Spring Festival.
“Wow!”
The moment the carriage came to a stop, the time read 6:00 p.m.
Jin Qian, who had been nervously watching the time on the survival panel, finally let out a sigh of relief.
Although he’d already confirmed with Qiyu that the original world was different from the Star Forest, he’d still been on edge the whole time.
Not until the time had firmly entered the “night” phase of the survival game.
He pulled back the carriage curtain and saw the outside ablaze with lights and teeming with people.
A sudden pang of emotion welled up in his nose, but he quickly suppressed it, the bittersweet feeling replaced by delight.
Qiyu was also taken aback by the lively scene; to him, Gold Hole City had already been teeming with people during the day.
But compared to this moment, it was like a mere drop in the bucket.
Everywhere he looked, there were people dressed in attire similar to his own—the elderly, the young, and children.
Everyone was holding flowers and wearing smiles. He didn’t even have to try to sense it; he could tell the atmosphere here was sweet.
He was observing them, and others were looking at him as well.
A pure white flower was held out before his eyes.
It was Leslie.
He laughed heartily and said, “It’s a tradition of the God of Spring Festival: everyone gives flowers to the ‘God of Spring’ they like—usually to a beautiful stranger.”
The traditional attire they wore was, in fact, modeled after the “God of Spring.” In other words, today, everyone was playing the role of the God of Spring.
“This is your first time participating in this, isn’t it? Here—the first flower is from me, on behalf of Gold Hole City, for all three of you.”
He distributed one flower to each of them, treating them all equally.
Leslie’s gesture seemed to serve as a signal.
As the carriage pulled away, the group was quickly surrounded by strangers.
The festive atmosphere is always contagious; even the shyest and quietest person can, on a night like this filled with joy, smile, compliment a stranger, and present them with a flower:
“You look so handsome—may the God of Spring always smile upon you.”
Qiyu’s arms were soon filled with a large bouquet of flowers.
At first, he was genuinely at a loss, able only to mechanically say “thank you” in response to every enthusiastic smile.
He instinctively glanced at Dan Xingyu and found that Dan Xingyu wasn’t faring much better than he was.
However, he was clearly in his element in this situation, accepting the flowers with a beaming smile while constantly calling out “Big Brother” and “Big Sister,” his blessings flowing even more smoothly than those of the passersby.
Qiyu carefully took note of the words he exchanged with the passersby, and soon, he was able to come up with a few pleasant phrases of his own beyond just “thank you.”
“Lord Qiyu?” A surprised voice rang out from nearby.
Qiyu turned his head and saw someone dressed like a butterfly.
He had two colorful patterns painted on his face, which was why Qiyu hadn’t recognized him at first.
But after taking a closer look: “It’s you—the one who sent me the subsidy.”
“Yep, that’s me!” The man pushed his way through the crowd, greeting him with a cheerful smile. “My name is Payne. I never expected to run into you here.”
Qiyu looked at him and came to a conclusion: without his work clothes, this Payne looked much younger.
Payne had just come over to say hello and, while he was at it, asked, “Since you’re here for the celebration, why aren’t you on the mages association float?”
Qiyu: “Why should I go? Is riding on a float really that much fun?”
Payne said, “Parading on a float is a lot of fun—everyone will get to see you.”
He looked at Qiyu several times, beaming as he said, “You look so good in this outfit. I guarantee that tomorrow, the whole city will be asking who you are.”
That’s the kind of prestige the mages association has!
Qiyu’s eyes lit up.
A figure suddenly appeared: “What are you guys talking about?”
Qiyu replied, “We’re talking about the mages association’s float parade. I want to join.”
Dan Xingyu was hugging an armful of flowers, most of his face hidden, so Qiyu could only hear his voice: “I think I just heard something about the whole town asking around.”
“That’s exactly what I’m talking about.” Qiyu leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Doesn’t that mean everyone will know I’m a mage from the Forest of Stars?”
A mage from the Forest of Stars.
His reputation is sure to skyrocket.
Without further ado, he followed Payne and quickly found the mages association’s float.
As soon as he approached, he sensed a strong aura of wood magic. The mages association’s massive float was also adorned with flowers.
Unlike the other floats, where the flowers were manually arranged, every plant and flower decorating the mages association’s float had been conjured using wood magic.
Seated on the float was a silver-haired elder.
Qiyu had seen her earlier that day; along with President Frederick, she was one of the Association’s elders.
Unlike her solemn and elegant mage’s robe during the day, she now had her long silver hair styled into an exquisite bun, adorned with several fresh flowers, and was dressed in a brightly colored long dress.
If she were walking down the street, she would look no different from any ordinary, kind-hearted elderly woman.
“Hello, Elder Roland.”
Elder Roland looked at Qiyu with a warm smile: “What a beautiful young person. The God of Spring’s attire suits a child like you perfectly.”
She was well aware of Qiyu’s true identity. Her gaze swept over the three people behind him, pausing briefly on Dan Xingyu, and her smile deepened.
She had clearly recalled that rumor from the Royal City of Ophelia.
“You’ve come at just the right time. For this year’s flower parade, we don’t have enough young mages to bless—even an old woman like me has to step in and do the work.”
“You’ll preside over the mages association’s God of Spring Blessing this year.”
Dan Xingyu and Jin Qian had followed Qiyu up here. Seeing that they were both present, Leslie shamelessly tagged along. When he noticed the Mages Association elder didn’t say anything, he took it as tacit approval and was overjoyed inside.
Now, seeing the Mages Association elder’s attitude toward Qiyu, he gained an even deeper understanding of his status.
