Dawn broke.
Almost as soon as the clock struck eight, Qiyu received a message from Dan Xingyu.
【God Has No Form: My Lord, I was wondering—do you still need to eat regular human meals?】
Qiyu thought he did.
As a true foodie—though perhaps he should say “elf”—he had, of course, asked Teacher Aegnor about this very issue. After all, the “nutritional supplements” the elves had prepared for him seemed rather limited in variety.
“Of course you can eat them,” the elf teacher told him. “Those are just meant to supply your body with energy. Whatever delicious food you want to eat, go ahead and eat it.” If he didn’t feel like eating, then just drinking Linglong juice would be enough.
【I Love Survival Game: Dan Xingyu, should you come to my territory?】
He posted the photos in the “01 Survival Squad” group chat that morning, and the main reason he didn’t send them to Dan Xingyu was so that he could come see for himself. Qiyu felt that his territory was so beautiful—a different kind of beauty from that of a garden.
It was worth inviting his good friend over to take a look. Half a minute later, the territory received a request.
As soon as Dan Xingyu stepped out, he sensed something different—he remembered that his previous teleportation portal had dropped him off under a large tree. But here, he saw a majestic pillar carved with snowflake patterns.
He realized almost immediately: “Is this the new appearance of your territory?”
“That’s right,” Qiyu said happily. “Take a look—isn’t it beautiful?”
The two were clearly inside the castle. Dan Xingyu gazed in awe at the magnificent structure, thoroughly impressed: “This territory skin is way more beautiful than any game I’ve played before.”
Earth has all kinds of games, and an ice castle isn’t exactly a niche design.
But in regular games, you can only admire your creations—whether purchased with real money or “painstakingly built”—through a screen.
In this survival game, when you change the appearance of your territory, you can actually live there and experience your castle firsthand.
Dan Xingyu immediately felt that 500 event tokens were a steal—it was totally worth it.
It seemed that although the Survival Game appeared to have drawn some inspiration from the major game developers on Earth, it was clear that when it came to pricing, it had truly captured the essence of that approach—it was relatively straightforward.
Qiyu gave him a quick tour of the entire territory.
After showing off the new territory’s appearance, Qiyu brought up the first matter.
“Dan Xingyu, it turns out I really am an elf.”
Dan Xingyu was quite surprised: “Did you confirm this with your elf teacher?”
Qiyu nodded: “Yep!”
Then he noticed Dan Xingyu studying him again with that peculiar look in his eyes.
“So will your appearance eventually change into that of an elf?”
Qiyu nodded: “Yes. My teacher said I grew up in human form because I needed to protect myself in dangerous environments and was malnourished. My bloodline is just beginning to awaken.”
“Once my body has regained enough energy, my appearance will also transform into that of an elf.”
Dan Xingyu asked a question that was of great concern to him: “Are you really… nineteen? I’ve heard that a nineteen-year-old elf is still just a cub.”
What a coincidence—Qiyu had asked the exact same question.
He told Dan Xingyu, “My situation is a bit unusual. I grew up in human form and reached adulthood. So my childhood—which is equivalent to the years I spent as a human—is already over. When my bloodline awakens, I’ll still be in my adult form.”
Dan Xingyu first breathed a sigh of relief, but soon felt a pang of sympathy for him.
Although he still didn’t know where this young man had lived in the past, one thing was certain: he hadn’t had an easy life.
And judging by the way the elves in this world treated him, if he were to end up somewhere else by some unexpected turn of events, he would surely be a carefree, worry-free little elf.
But he didn’t say much; he simply invited Qiyu: “Now that you’ve seen your territory, do you want to come back with me and take a look at my new territory?”
“Sure.”
They passed through the teleportation gate into the Golden Desert, but what met their eyes was still the balcony of the palace’s master bedroom. Qiyu asked in confusion, “Didn’t you say it was a new territory?”
Dan Xingyu replied, “That’s right—it’s still being exchanged.”
“I don’t even know what the new event territory looks like yet,” Dan Xingyu laughed. “Qiyu, let’s find out together.”
Qiyu immediately grew excited: “Okay.”
He couldn’t help but reflect on how, when he’d redeemed the territory’s appearance, he’d never even thought to ask Dan Xingyu to come take a look. Next time something like this came up, he could bring him along. After all, they were so close.
After redeeming the event-exclusive territory skin, Dan Xingyu chose to switch it out. When he saw exactly what it was, he raised an eyebrow slightly, clearly a bit surprised.
“It’s starting,” he reminded Qiyu. Qiyu’s eyes widened.
A gust of wind swept out from where the two of them stood.
Wherever the breeze passed, the yellow sand turned into fertile soil, and green grass and small trees began to sprout from the soil…
In the blink of an eye, the desert transformed into an oasis. Qiyu even spotted a “lake” that had appeared not far away. And at the center of the territory, the majestic golden palace had turned into a magnificent, grand tent.
Dan Xingyu told Qiyu that the limited-time territory skin for the Golden Desert this time was “Oasis.”
“Even though I know it’s all fake, this skin is really easy on the eyes,” Dan Xingyu said, unable to resist crouching down to touch a tuft of the tender, newly sprouted green grass.
It felt soft and moist to the touch—barely distinguishable from real grass.
He tried plucking a small piece; the moment it touched his hand, it turned into a white light and vanished.
Sure enough, no matter how realistic the skin was, it was still just a skin. If the survival game really gave all players a real oasis, then the reward for this event wouldn’t be called a “limited-time skin”—it would have to be renamed a “limited-time cheat.”
Still, even so, it’s already quite tempting.
Dan Xingyu posted several photos in the region channel, and sure enough, a group of players in Region 88 was green with envy.
Originally, a group of “practical players” thought it was better to prioritize grinding for other rewards first—this skin was the most expensive and not very practical, so they’d put it off until last. But upon closer inspection…
Holy crap, Survival Game really knows how to deliver when it comes to rewards—there’s a reason it’s so expensive! What’s there to think about? Let’s grind—we’ve got to grind like crazy!
The kitchen in the Oasis has also become an open-air kitchen, though the Survival panel notes that while using this skin set, your territory won’t experience adverse weather conditions like rain.
The two of them ate breakfast together, and Qiyu took out a bottle of Linglong Jade juice.
He said with a hint of regret, “I asked the teacher about this—it’s specially formulated for elves’ constitutions, so humans can’t drink it.” Otherwise, he could have shared some with Dan Xingyu.
Upon hearing this, Dan Xingyu quickly waved his hand: “This is a nutritional supplement prepared especially for you—I certainly don’t want any.” If you were to calculate it based on the “elf age” of the people younger than him, this juice was definitely “baby food.” No matter what, he couldn’t possibly snatch food meant for a child, could he?
Qiyu drank the entire bottle of juice. To be honest, it didn’t taste like much, and it didn’t leave much of an impression either.
From what he recalled, this substance was intended to be used long-term as a nutritional supplement to nourish the little spirit’s body; its effects on the spirit would be exceptionally gentle. It was made from the most complex ingredients and required the longest preparation time to achieve the best results.
He asked Dan Xingyu if all the promotional items had been redeemed.
Dan Xingyu replied, “Everything’s been redeemed except for one of the limited-edition watchtowers.”
He said excitedly, “Mage, would you like to try my Golden Flying Carpet?”
This was the new item available in the Golden Desert event—a flying carpet. Dan Xingyu took it out.
Compared to the magic sled, it was significantly faster and had a much cooler design. But the Golden Flying Carpet had one major advantage over the magic sled: it had no restrictions on where it could be used. At any time, as long as you consumed Energy Crystal Cards, you could fly.
Since he wasn’t in a hurry to use up the few remaining frost gems he had left, Qiyu said, “Sure!”
He told Dan Xingyu, “The watchtower is probably the same type as our snow launcher. It’s not unlimited—once you buy four, you’ll get a notification that the purchase limit is six.”
The Golden Flying Carpet was quite large—shimmering golden all over and roughly 4 meters by 4 meters in size. It was spacious enough not just for two people, but for several more as well.
It hovered quietly before them. Dan Xingyu pulled Qiyu onto it, and as he did so, he was startled: “You’re so light!”
When he pulled him just now, his hand felt almost weightless—he could barely sense any weight at all.
Qiyu nodded. “That’s right. I’m already awakening my elven bloodline. My weight is probably about the same as a feather, right?” No sooner had he finished speaking than Dan Xingyu leaned in. “Really? Can I give you a hug to see?”
Qiyu: “Go ahead.”
A pair of hands quickly wrapped around his waist, and Qiyu was embraced from behind, lifted slightly off the ground.
“It’s true,” Dan Xingyu exclaimed in amazement as she let him go. “My Lord, wouldn’t a mere gust of wind be enough to blow you away?”
Qiyu: “…No.”
“Though if I want to take it easy, I can use the wind’s power to move around.” He seemed a little pleased. “I’m still getting used to it, but an elf’s body is a lot of fun.”
He was still adjusting; everything felt fresh and new. The two of them sat cross-legged as the golden flying carpet slowly rose into the air.
Although Qiyu had said he wouldn’t be blown away by the wind, Dan Xingyu was clearly a bit nervous. He kept his eyes fixed on him the entire time, ready at a moment’s notice—if the little elf in front of him happened to be swept away by the wind, he had to make sure he could snatch him back immediately.
However, Qiyu sat perfectly steady, and his worries proved completely unfounded.
The golden flying carpet wasn’t particularly fast, but it was still considerably faster than walking on foot.
Qiyu used his mental energy to help scan the area, and by mid-morning, he had already collected the remaining tokens and copper coins. He suddenly remembered something: “Dan Xingyu, have you ever run into any players from your region?”
Dan Xingyu: “Not yet. Have you?”
Qiyu nodded: “Yes, I have—more than one, actually.”
“It’s probably because the magic sled is so fast—I’ve been able to reach places farther away.” He gazed into the distance as the two of them continued to ride the flying carpet in one direction. “I wonder if we’ll run into any other players from Server 88 today.”
Dan Xingyu: “If we do…”
His eyes sparkled: “Elf Lord, do you want to play a game with me?”
Qiyu: “What kind of game?”
Dan Xingyu: “Let’s be philanthropists.”
Qiyu:?
Dan Xingyu: “If we run into other players, we’ll swoop down from the sky like heroes, help them slay monsters without saying a word. Then, when we find treasure, we’ll coldly toss it to them and leave without another word.”
He looked at her with complete seriousness: “And within a day, legends about the two of us will be spreading throughout the entire 88th Server.”
