The two packets of seeds were sent by Civil Engineering Brother.

One is 【 Lily of the Valley Seed】, and the other is 【Climbing Tree Vine】. The system scan results show they are both ordinary ornamental plants.

Right now, players are still struggling just to survive, so these items are practically worthless.

Upon hearing that someone was willing to buy them—or rather, trade for food—the two sellers happily agreed. Qiyu accepted the seeds, thanked Civil Engineering Brother, and sent him the venison from the trade. He then began inspecting his haul.

【Elementary Magic Scroll】—a seemingly ordinary piece of dark yellow paper, from which a faint magical energy emanated.

The Magic Association’s *elementary magic introduction* mentions magic scrolls: a mage constructs the desired spell with their mental energy, then infuses their own magic into the scroll to successfully create a scroll imbued with magic.

It didn’t sound too difficult.

Qiyu concentrated and silently recited the Fireball spell, carefully channeling her magical energy into the scroll in her hand.

On the blank paper, crimson magical patterns flickered in and out of view, and finally, a complete fire-elemental magical sigil took shape on the scroll.

Success!

All he had to do was tear open the scroll to instantly unleash the magic inscribed upon it.

Qiyu was eager to test their effects but felt a bit reluctant to use them, so he decided to put them away and save them for the next time he encountered a mutated creature. Next, he followed the same method and inscribed magic onto all nine remaining scrolls in one go.

Five Fireball spells, three Waterball spells, and two inscribed with basic Heal magic.

Looking at the stack of scrolls before him, Qiyu couldn’t help but picture a certain scene: mutant creatures attacking, him standing in place, and throwing magic scrolls.

Just thinking about it made him laugh out loud.

He stowed the ten scrolls in his backpack and turned to another set of notes.

【Magic Scroll Crafting Notes: Authored by an unknown mage. Requires a Mental Attribute of at least 15 to learn.】

Qiyu looked pensive: yet another one with a Mental Power requirement.

The Magic Association’s *elementary magic introduction* requires a Mental Power of 8 or higher.

These magic scroll crafting notes require a Mental Power of 15 or higher.

And the *Mental Power Cultivation Manual* by the elven Archmage Aegnor is even more demanding—the learning threshold is a Mental Power score higher than 50.

So, does this mean that magic in the survival game has strict requirements for the Mental Power attribute?

Let’s speculate a bit further: since *elementary magic introduction*, a primer on the subject, requires 8 points of Mental Strength, perhaps this means that 8 points of Mental Strength is the minimum threshold for learning magic?

Qiyu made a mental note of this. If that were the case, then many players would likely find, just like the player who sold this item to him, that acquiring magical items would be completely useless.

He successfully learned the notes, which only taught him how to craft an elementary magic scroll.

【Elementary Magic Scroll: Can be inscribed with spells of Tier 3 or lower. Crafting Materials: Parchment paper x1, magic potion 1ml.】

Great, two more items he’d never heard of.

Qiyu, refusing to give up, searched the trading page himself. Sure enough, no one was selling either of these items.

It was now 3:00 PM. There were still three hours until nightfall.

Qiyu went to look at the sunflowers inside the fence.

He saw that the plants, now as tall as an adult, had bloomed from their buds. Layers upon layers of golden petals spread out freely, each one shimmering with specks of light as dazzling as the sun.

Qiyu noticed that their names had changed.

【Bright sunflower: Mutant plant. Wilting occurs fifteen days after picking. During its growth phase, it has a certain attraction effect on mutant creatures. Effect: Glows, Purify.】

One hour left until maturity. Does the growth phase attract mutated creatures?

Qiyu recalled the mutated gray-horned sheep from earlier that morning, as well as the two mutated creatures that had fought to a standstill the day before. Not knowing if any unexpected incidents might occur tonight, he decided to make some security arrangements for the shelter.

To fully enclose and protect the wooden cabin—which is currently about 50 square meters in size—with a fence, he would need 300 units of wood.

He currently had a total of 370 units of wood in his backpack, which was more than enough.

But Qiyu had an even bolder idea: he wanted to enclose part of the farmland as well.

Since his innate skill was 【Farming】, he certainly couldn’t let it go to waste; he would inevitably need more farmland and seeds in the future.

Although plants could be protected by a separate fence, that would isolate the farmland from the shelter. He didn’t know how dangerous the creatures lurking in the thick night fog were, and he wouldn’t be able to keep an eye on the plants at night.

Qiyu walked around the house, made a rough estimate, and finally decided to fence off a two-meter space on all four sides of the house.

This enclosed area could serve as farmland, and in the event of a nighttime threat, it would provide sufficient space to defend against it. As a result, the original 10m x 5m space was expanded to 14m x 9m.

He needed 460 units of wood; he was still 90 units short.

Unfortunately, the fences he had previously installed couldn’t be dismantled and reused.

Qiyu slung his axe over his shoulder and set to work chopping down trees; he’s become quite skilled at this by now. An hour later, his backpack contained 99 units of wood, plus one more piece he was holding in his hand.

He went to the workbench to craft 46 units of fence, then placed them according to Qiyu’s earlier plan.

Soon, the simple, natural-wood fences completely surrounded the cabin, and thoughtfully, a “gate” was left open at the front entrance. However, this was merely symbolic—after all, it was just a one-meter-tall structure that Qiyu could easily step over.

Qiyu looked at the long list of durability ratings at 100/100 and felt completely at ease.

The farmland was located to the right of the main entrance.

Judging by the time, the Radiant Sunflowers should be ripe.

Qiyu walked over and happened to arrive just as the sunflowers were ripening. A blinding light filled his vision.

For a split second, Qiyu felt as if his eyes were about to go blind.

He had to close his eyes, then quietly peeked through a slit to look ahead. After his eyes adjusted, he opened them fully.

Where were the flowers? All he could see were dazzling “little suns” at the tops of the tall green plants.

Qiyu instantly understood the meaning behind the name “radiant sunflower.” It truly was light in the physical sense.

Each one displayed the words 【Ripe, Ready to Pick】 at the top. Qiyu decided to pick them.

The moment each “little sun” was plucked, the man-sized plant withered instantly, vanishing into a white light right before Qiyu’s eyes. Having grown accustomed to such unscientific scenes, Qiyu thought: In a survival game, you call the shots.

Qiyu picked 49 of them, deliberately leaving one sunflower behind.

The survival game indicated that the flowers could be picked and would remain fresh for 15 days. But what if he didn’t pick them?

What would happen?

On the now-empty plot of land, he sowed gale grass seed.

Surprisingly, the ripening countdown for the gale grass showed 48 hours.

Qiyu was surprised: Could it be because this was a drop from killing a mutated creature? Or were plant seeds, like other supplies, also tiered?

No sooner had the gale grass been planted than a water shortage icon appeared.

Qiyu noticed that these seeds seemed to require even more water than sunflowers. He cast Waterball three times in a row before they had their fill.

After tending to these little guys, Qiyu began setting traps. Circling the fence, he placed a spike trap every meter.

That’s it.

The shelter protects him, the fence protects the shelter, and another ring of spikes outside protects the fence.

Qiyu finally felt a sense of security: with all these layers of protection, even after the probationary period ends, he should at least be able to defend himself a little.
