SYNOPSYS:
Song Ning was once a wealthy ger in town, but his stepmother casually arranged his marriage to a poor hunter in the countryside known for being unlucky with wives.
He couldn’t adjust to rural life. He knew neither how to tend the fire nor cook. Though his mother-in-law taught him, he always botched things, earning him the neighbors’ ridicule as a useless fool.
Song Ning could only wipe away tears in secret. Thankfully, though the hunter was taciturn, he treated his young husband exceptionally well—helping with cooking and firewood, even secretly washing his clothes.
Worried he’d be uncomfortable on straw mats, he specially laid out a cotton mattress. Knowing he was lonely, he introduced him to friends. He even learned to mend clothes himself.
The poor hunter even went out of his way to spoil his young husband—buying him chicks, sugar-coated hawthorn berries…
Song Ning found country life quite pleasant. The hunter, not wanting him to work, raised chickens and ducks for him. They bought a mule, built a new house, and acquired farmland, their life growing increasingly prosperous.
