When Fan Zhou had said he came looking for him, Feng Xun had already felt immensely happy, but before the smile on his face had time to fully bloom, he heard words that left his entire being frozen in place.
Willing to become his mate?
Willing?
His clear eyes widened, doubting whether he had heard correctly, and he didn’t dare move at all.
What was going on with the rabbit…
Seeing this, Fan Zhou’s previously heavy mood inexplicably lightened.
Just now, he had been thinking back on all the little moments since he met the white wolf.
The white wolf had said that he was strong, that he didn’t need the white wolf. That wasn’t true—humans were social creatures, and he needed a roommate, too.
Before picking up the white wolf, he ate, hunted, and slept alone. For the rest of the time, he simply dazed off, lost in thought.
One moment he felt tired and thought maybe he should just give up on everything, and the next he thought since he wasn’t dead, he might as well try to live better.
He constantly bounced between lying flat in despair and being pumped full of energy.
Later, he met Xiong Jing.
Xiong Jing was adorable, invincibly adorable, but he couldn’t just take Xiong Jing home to raise—Xiong Jing wasn’t a panda in a zoo, but a person with independent thoughts.
So he was still alone.
Until he picked up the white wolf.
It had to be said—being good-looking was an advantage. With how dazzlingly handsome the white wolf was, just sitting there with a gloomy expression, Fan Zhou instinctively wanted to comfort him, to solve the white wolf’s troubles.
Not to mention that Lang Xun had been grateful and hardworking from the very beginning.
Good looks, good character—anyone would pay attention and want to get closer.
After returning to the tribe, to distract the white wolf, he had dragged him into doing all sorts of tasks. In the process, his attention had also been diverted by the white wolf, and he no longer had time to wallow.
His energy had been completely occupied by the white wolf.
The white wolf wove hemp cloth, cooked, and guarded their home.
They were all ordinary little things, but they filled his time so completely that when Feng Xun and Ying Xiao went out, he felt extremely unsettled, as if a piece of him was missing—nothing felt right.
When he didn’t come back on time from going out, there was someone who worried about him, someone willing to go out and look for him.
On cold nights, someone held him and kept him warm.
He needed Lang Xun, needed him very much.
Just now, he had seriously thought about the future. Since he was going to stay in this wild world long-term, how should he handle romantic matters?
He thought he was straight, but the truth was, he had never liked any girls. Of course, he hadn’t liked any boys either. Back then, he had put all his energy into survival, never considering such things.
If he really had to fall in love, then Lang Xun was the best choice. This man was good-looking—extremely good-looking, dazzlingly good-looking—just looking at him could lift his mood…
More importantly, recently, when being looked at by Lang Xun, his cheeks would get hot.
Though he had never been in a relationship, he wasn’t stupid. This meant he probably did have romantic feelings for Lang Xun.
Since Lang Xun wanted to be with him, then… they could be together.
But there were some things that had to be made clear in advance. He lightly cleared his throat and said, “Even though I’m willing to become your mate, I don’t yet have that kind of ‘want to kiss you’ kind of feeling. If I ever meet a beastman in the future that I do want to kiss, then we’ll have to part ways.”
“If you agree to this condition, then we can become mates.”
Right now, he couldn’t give Lang Xun the wholehearted love he wanted, so he had to give him a heads-up—Lang Xun needed to be mentally prepared.
Of course, this was only to prepare Lang Xun psychologically.
There was no way he’d meet some other beastman he wanted to kiss—he still couldn’t see beastmen as purely human.
They were all furry, after all.
Fan Zhou’s words were quite scummy, but the frightened Feng Xun let out a sigh of relief. He knew it—Tu Zhou wasn’t completely willing.
Having conditions made it normal.
At the end of the day, Tu Zhou had softened and was willing to give him a chance.
His whole body was filled with joy, and he somewhat awkwardly raised a hand, wanting to grab Fan Zhou’s hand, but afraid that Fan Zhou wouldn’t like it, so his hand fell back down halfway through.
He ruffled his hair and said seriously, “I understand. I’ll do my best to make sure you don’t fall for any other beastman.”
He was going to occupy all of Tu Zhou’s thoughts!
The first step was to let all the beastmen know that Tu Zhou belonged to him!
“Then, when are we holding the mating ceremony?”
“…In winter, I guess. That’s when there’s no work, so we can focus on preparing for it.”
“Then can we tell everyone tomorrow that we’re going to become mates?” Feng Xun immediately asked again.
“…Sure.” Staring into Lang Xun’s bright, sparkling eyes, Fan Zhou couldn’t bring himself to say no.
“That’s great.” Feng Xun’s smile couldn’t be suppressed. He pointed above his head and said, “Then let’s head up! Let’s get to sleep early.”
He was looking forward to tomorrow.
“Aren’t you hungry? You haven’t eaten yet, have you?” Fan Zhou asked instead.
“Uh…” Feng Xun immediately touched his stomach. He had felt so terrible that he hadn’t even thought about eating, and it turned out he hadn’t even felt hungry before!
“Let’s go back and eat some glutinous rice cakes.” Fan Zhou smiled and took a step forward, grabbing Feng Xun’s hand.
Feng Xun immediately turned his hand over and gripped back. With one pull, he dragged Fan Zhou into his arms: “I’ll carry you up.”
Fan Zhou: “…Hold on tight, I’ll take you up.”
As he spoke, the water whip in his hand slowly shortened, lifting both him and Feng Xun into the air bit by bit.
Feng Xun nodded enthusiastically, his arms holding Fan Zhou tightly. It didn’t matter who was doing the carrying—the important thing was that he was holding Tu Zhou. He could finally hold Tu Zhou openly and justifiably.
When they reached the cave entrance, Fan Zhou brought out the rice cakes he had pan-fried that afternoon—a small bowl full.
He had used little oil while frying them, and the hard nut paste wasn’t too sweet either, so the rice cakes weren’t greasy at all. The two of them finished the entire small bowl and still felt a little unsatisfied, so they gnawed on some dried meat too, and finally felt full.
After washing up with cool grass, the two went into the cave.
Feng Xun was the first to lie down on the straw mat. When he saw Fan Zhou was about to shift into his rabbit form, he immediately said, “No need to shift into your beast form. We’re going to become mates—we can sleep holding each other.”
Seeing Fan Zhou surprised, he felt a little anxious inside, but kept a serious face and explained, “Other beastmen, once they decide to become mates, they do it the same day. We’re not doing that—I just want to hold you.”
Fan Zhou: “……”
Alright then.
He didn’t shift into his beast form and lay directly on the bed. The moment he touched the dry straw, he was pulled into a warm embrace.
Feng Xun lay on his side, one arm sliding under Fan Zhou’s neck and resting on his back. The other arm crossed over his waist and then landed, precisely and unerringly, on…
He took a deep breath and raised his hand to smack Feng Xun’s hand with a pa: “Take it off.”
Too outrageous—he had actually grabbed his tail.
Feng Xun was very obedient and immediately moved his hand away: “Then can I kiss you?”
“……”
“Can I? Just one kiss on the lips.”
Fan Zhou took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and accepted his fate as he said, “You can.”
Before agreeing, he had thought it through carefully. He was already prepared for physical intimacy.
He wouldn’t do something like agreeing and then refusing Lang Xun a little affection.
At the core, he didn’t resist or dislike this person. Sigh, being handsome really was an advantage.
Fan Zhou silently scorned his own shallow love for beauty, but Feng Xun was overjoyed. He immediately laid Fan Zhou flat on the straw mat.
Ever since his powers had been revealed, Fan Zhou had installed a water curtain at the cave entrance. The curtain let in light, and with Feng Xun’s unusually sharp eyesight, he accurately kissed Fan Zhou on the lips.
Fan Zhou didn’t feel any aversion to this kind of close contact, but in the next second, the man lightly bit his lip.
……
“You—” He had just uttered a word when his mouth was sealed shut.
The hunting-savvy Lang Xun seized the opportunity and blocked off the rest of his words.
He instinctively wanted to resist, but just then, his tail was grabbed again, and this man even gave it a not-too-hard, not-too-light tug!
“Don’t move, let me kiss you.” A somewhat suppressed voice sounded in his ear, and his entire body was once again pulled into the man’s arms.
This man used both arms and legs, hugging him tightly like he was going to squeeze him to death, rubbing his hands all over him.
Very soon, the man found his lips again, not as gentle as before, and kissed him while calling out his name.
He had originally wanted to struggle, but after hearing the passionate and affectionate calls of “Tu Zhou” again and again in the darkness, he lost all his temper.
This kind of intimate whispering in the dark heightened all his senses, and his cheeks began to heat up again.
Thinking about how this person always looked at him with tenderness and focus, he slowly wrapped his arms around the man’s neck.
Forget it, this step was bound to come sooner or later.
He closed his eyes and began to respond.
Feng Xun was surprised.
Feng Xun was ecstatic. He had bet right—sure enough, the rabbit didn’t push him away.
The second step was to get the rabbit used to his physical touch!
Since the rabbit said he might meet a beastman he wanted to kiss in the future, he definitely couldn’t just sit and wait—he had to get the rabbit used to his kisses first.
The rabbit was so soft-hearted and treated him so well. If he coaxed and begged a little, the rabbit would definitely grant his wish.
And facts proved that he was right—the rabbit had softened.
He immediately used all the techniques he had observed on the person in his arms. He didn’t have any experience in this area, but he had seen a lot—and he was smart!
The consequence of indulging was that the next morning, when Fan Zhou got up, his lips were swollen.
Standing by the creek, staring at his reflection in the water, he couldn’t help but raise his hand to hit the person beside him.
Feng Xun stood where he was, a quiet smile on his handsome face, obediently letting him slap him.
Fan Zhou was speechless at the sight. Acting all well-behaved now—last night he had nearly devoured him.
Thinking of the scenes from the previous night, a wave of heat surged through his body—being seduced by beauty was truly dangerous!
The feeling of kissing this person had been good, and so, kissing turned into something more.
Though they didn’t go all the way, for him, the intimacy had already gone far beyond his boundaries!
He was a pure and innocent college boy—he’d been flustered and helpless. It was the man beside him who had guided him, even saying he had seen plenty of similar situations before and was extremely experienced.
That man likely hadn’t lied, because in the end, he had definitely… enjoyed himself.
Touching his lips, he squatted down and began to wash his face.
He couldn’t think about it anymore, not early in the morning. He couldn’t let the fire in his body burn too hot.
Feng Xun also squatted down and carefully chewed on some cooling grass. His expression was calm, but in his heart, he was so delighted he could hardly stop himself from pouncing on the rabbit beside him and rubbing against him for a good while.
He knew it—Tu Zhou was soft-hearted!
From now on, he has to do this every night.
The two of them had gone to bed late, so they also got up late. They hadn’t even finished washing up before the beastmen came to collect the sweet water.
Fan Zhou instructed Feng Xun to make breakfast, while he went down the cave to distribute the sweet water to the beastmen.
Xiong Wu and the others were there too. They had already eaten breakfast and were getting ready to return to their tribe with the beast spirit flowers.
However, they also shamelessly lined up, wanting to get some sweet water. They had already exchanged for a few water pouches with the hemp cloth they got yesterday, planning to keep them for drinking on the road.
They held a bunch of firewood in their hands, and if Tu Zhou wasn’t satisfied, they were willing to trade hemp cloth for sweet water!
Fan Zhou wasn’t that stingy, though. He had a good impression of the brown bears and very straightforwardly filled their water pouches.
After distributing the sweet water, the beastmen didn’t leave. Instead, they all stared at him with bright, intense eyes.
He felt a bit guilty and instinctively touched his lips. Could it be that they had figured out what he’d done last night…?
Just then, Feng Xun’s voice rang out above everyone’s heads: “Everyone, wait a moment.”
Everyone looked up to see Feng Xun standing at the edge of the rock. Thinking he had something to say, the many beastmen quieted down and waited.
But it was in just a single breath’s time that Feng Xun, who had been standing on the edge of the rock, suddenly appeared right next to Fan Zhou.
The beastmen from the waterfall tribe stared at him in a daze, momentarily unable to react. Wasn’t it said that Feng Xun shouldn’t use that kind of extreme speed lightly anymore?
Xiong Wu and the others were completely stunned. It was their first time seeing a scene like this. What was going on?!
Fan Zhou stared at the man beside him, a bit worried—what’s with him?!
Facing all the gazes, Feng Xun wore a faint smile on his handsome face and said loudly, “This winter, Tu Zhou and I will become mates.”
He looked toward Fan Zhou, grabbing his hand sweetly and raising their clasped hands up high: “Bless us.”
Fan Zhou: “……”
So all this build-up was just to announce this?
“I knew you two were going to become mates!” Mao Yu was the first to break the silence. She shouted happily, “May the Beast God bless you two—may you catch endless prey and eat endless hard nuts every day!”
After Mao Yu shouted, Xiong Jing also came back to her senses. She recalled how Fan Zhou had been unhappy yesterday evening, and Lang Xun had been nowhere to be seen.
“Tu Zhou, Lang Xun, you two must be happy, plant lots of beast spirit flowers, and raise lots of snow chickens,” she said seriously.
“Okay, we will,” Feng Xun immediately replied, even shaking the hand that was clasped with Fan Zhou’s.
Fan Zhou: “……”
Sigh, how was he supposed to explain that the affection he felt for Xiong Jing wasn’t the kind between a man and a woman? What a headache.
At that moment, the other beastmen finally came to their senses. They were all a bit surprised.
Normally, there hadn’t been any sign of such feelings between Lang Xun and Tu Zhou.
But then they quickly recalled how Feng Xun had been covered in blood just to save Fan Zhou—Feng Xun hadn’t even cared for his life for Fan Zhou’s sake. That was real love.
“Lang Xun, the Beast God watches over Tu Zhou. If you two become mates, you will definitely receive the Beast God’s blessings.”
“That’s right, that’s right! Tu Zhou is the newly chosen High Priest of the Beast God. You two are sure to be happy.”
…
They all offered their own blessings one after another.
Hu Sheng stomped heavily on the ground, full of regret—damn it. He’d only praised Tu Zhou before and completely forgotten to praise Lang Xun. Tu Zhou liked Lang Xun. If he praised Lang Xun more, Tu Zhou would be happy.
He shouted, “Lang Xun, you’re strong and good-looking! You’re the most powerful Enforcer, and Tu Zhou is the new High Priest. You two are the perfect match!”
As soon as these words came out, they immediately drew Feng Xun’s gaze, his eyes full of satisfaction.
Exactly, he and Tu Zhou were the perfect match!
He would convince Tu Zhou to let that foolish tiger join the Waterfall Tribe sooner rather than later.
Xiong Wu and the other brown bears came to their senses and also quickly raised their voices to offer their blessings, especially Xiong Wu. He even talked about the ceremony when he and Lu Xin became mates, which instantly sparked a new plan in Feng Xun’s mind.
Que Yu stood on the edge of the crowd, his face pale. The moment had finally come—he knew it would be like this!
But there was nothing he could do. This Tu Zhou, whose background was unknown, was far more powerful than him. He couldn’t compare at all.
Carrying his water bucket in a daze, he returned to the tribe. This moment of joy had nothing to do with him.
The crowd of beastmen surrounded Feng Xun and Fan Zhou, chirping noisily for quite a while. Thanks to Niu Shan and several other beastmen’s enthusiastic spreading of the word last night, they all knew about the Holy Temple, the High Priest, the Beast King, and the Enforcer.
They were both excited and proud—the newly chosen High Priest was in their tribe~!
But it had been too late last night, and they hadn’t wanted to disturb Tu Zhou, so they had held it in until now.
“Tu Zhou, are you really the Beast God’s newly chosen High Priest?”
“Tu Zhou, the Holy Temple has divine festivals every year. We should hold a divine festival too! The Giant Bear Tribe will come to attend it.”
“Exactly, exactly! Our tribe is going to become the new Holy Temple.”
…
Fan Zhou listened to all this, his face full of speechlessness. He had thought it was because someone had noticed his swollen lips.
He waved his hand, signaling them to go do what they were supposed to. High Priest? He wasn’t one, and he didn’t want to be a nanny.
He dug up two beast spirit flower plants and gave them to Xiong Wu. He wasn’t sure whether the beast spirit flowers could cure the strange illness, so to be safe, he gave Xiong Wu two plants.
Xiong Wu was so moved that his eyes brimmed with tears, and he instantly burst into sobs: “Tu Zhou, if you’re not the High Priest, who is? You’re so generous and kind…”
This was the Beast God! According to legend, the Beast God was this selfless with the beastmen.
But he didn’t dare say that out loud—he devoutly believed in the Beast God.
“Alright, alright, hurry and go back already. Be careful on the road,” Fan Zhou urged.
A man over two meters tall suddenly crying—what a beautiful and tragic scene.
Xiong Wu sniffled and repeatedly promised to bring back beast spirit flower seeds, then set off somewhat reluctantly.
Once Xiong Wu and the other brown bears were out of sight, Fan Zhou turned and glared at Feng Xun: “Why did you use high speed just now? Do you not care about your body?!”
Feng Xun blinked: “I didn’t use my fastest speed.”
He wasn’t stupid—if he ended up covered in blood again, that would be way too embarrassing.
He just wanted to show off and intimidate, not embarrass himself.
He had controlled it very precisely—just now, his body only hurt a little more than usual. He could endure it.
“…That wasn’t your fastest speed just now?” Fan Zhou asked in confusion.
“Not at all. Don’t worry—unless it’s a life-or-death situation, I won’t use my fastest speed,” Feng Xun grabbed Fan Zhou’s hand and promised with a serious expression.
As he spoke, he pursed his lips slightly, looking a bit melancholic: “I just don’t want other beastmen to have ideas about you. You’re too popular. I’m afraid someone will snatch you away.”
Fan Zhou: “……”
His raging anger was instantly extinguished.
Such a stunningly handsome man getting all pitiful just because he liked him—what a sin he had committed.
“Don’t worry. I’m not even remotely interested in ordinary beastmen. Don’t overthink it.”
“But next time, you’re not allowed to use your high speed recklessly, got it!”
“Mm!” Having received a promise, Feng Xun’s face lit up with a smile, and he nodded firmly: “I’ll listen to you.”
“That’s more like it.” Fan Zhou was satisfied.
Feng Xun lowered his gaze, also satisfied.
Hmph, if the rabbit took a liking to anyone else, he’d just beat them up—none of them could take him on anyway.
Not far away, Song Li and Niu Shu looked at the two of them, unsure whether they should approach—was it time for another lesson…
Fan Zhou wasn’t in the mood to teach math today. Xiong Wu had shouted about treating the Waterfall Tribe as the new Holy Temple and wanting to attend the divine festival—he had to prepare for that.
This was quite beneficial for him. First, it would make the High Priest and the old Beast King so angry they might pop a vein, and second, he could just sit there and wait for others to bring him goods. Who knows, someone might even deliver wheat right to his doorstep.
So, it was something worth taking seriously—he needed to plan it well.
He and Feng Xun took Song Li and Niu Shu for a walk around the area near the Waterfall Tribe.
First of all, the over two thousand jin of seeds he’d newly acquired still needed to be planted. Although half the summer had already passed, with the spiritual spring water, even if this batch of seeds didn’t yield a huge harvest, the sorghum that came out of it would exceed the current output.
Aside from watering, the Axe Tribe had spent all their time reclaiming land. Now there was another large patch of wasteland—just right for planting sorghum.
Then there was animal husbandry—he had to get that going too.
The location of the livestock farm had to be chosen carefully. Those places stank, and he had no intention of smelling that stench every day.
Of course, the beastmen of the Waterfall Tribe surely didn’t want to smell it either. But it couldn’t be placed too far away from the tribe—if something happened, the beastmen wouldn’t know.
After walking around for a while, Fan Zhou eventually returned to the cave. Holding a tree branch, he stood at the edge of the rock, looking at the terrain in the distance while drawing and writing on the ground.
Feng Xun, Song Li, and Niu Shu were very curious. “What are you drawing?” they asked.
“These are symbols. Each symbol represents a meaning,” Fan Zhou explained.
“Did the Beast God teach you this?” Song Li’s face was full of reverence.
“…Yes.” Fan Zhou nodded.
“Then I want to learn,” Feng Xun immediately said.
“You want to learn how to write?” Fan Zhou was surprised.
“Yes. You know how, and I want to learn too,” Feng Xun said seriously.
The rabbit knew so many things that he didn’t understand. He wanted to get closer to the rabbit.
Moreover, he knew how resistant beastmen were to math, and these symbols were even more complex than math. Other beastmen would surely be even more resistant.
If only he had learned it, then he would be unique to the rabbit.
Also, teaching this would definitely occupy a lot of the rabbit’s time, and the rabbit wouldn’t have any chance to meet other beastmen who wanted kisses!
Fan Zhou didn’t know about Feng Xun’s little scheme in his heart. He felt a bit conflicted.
There was no paper here, and only he understood Chinese characters. There was no real meaning for Feng Xun to learn this.
But when he met Feng Xun’s eager and curious gaze, he hesitated for a moment and finally nodded.
Forget it, he’d give it a try—maybe Feng Xun would lose interest quickly.
Song Li and Niu Shu looked at Feng Xun with admiration. Those mysterious symbols made their eyes spin, but Feng Xun still wanted to learn—what a warrior!
Fan Zhou quickly finished drawing the planning diagram. Next came the actual work.
The livestock farm would be built in the southeastern part of the Waterfall Tribe, about four to five hundred meters away from the tribe.
He went to find Lang Tian and shared his plan.
He could be in charge of catching prey, but the daily feeding would need to be done by the beastmen of the Waterfall Tribe.
He also planned to make some bricks to build enclosures.
This would require quite a few people, and the plan was very ambitious. Lang Tian listened in a bit of a daze—what bricks, what enclosures—he didn’t understand at all.
But he strongly supported Fan Zhou—Fan Zhou was the High Priest! And those birds that Fan Zhou raised really made his mouth water; the whole tribe wanted to raise them!
So, at noon, taking advantage of the gathering team’s return, Fan Zhou assigned them new work—first to clear the land for the livestock farm.
Song Li and Niu Shu also went; this was a big deal!
After lunch, Fan Zhou and Feng Xun began working with mud.
Fan Zhou had never made mud bricks before; he had only seen videos of it. He didn’t know which type of soil was suitable. But near the Waterfall Tribe, there was only one kind of soil, so he dug up some, mixed it with stream water into mud, and added some dried grass.
After mixing the mud to the right consistency—not too runny, not too dry—he picked up a piece of wood and had Feng Xun carve it into the mold shape he wanted.
He poured the prepared mud into the mold, and next would be to wait for it to dry.
Of course, that was the usual process.
He had water powers and didn’t need the sun to intervene. With just a gentle stroke of his hand across the mud brick, he could absorb the moisture from it.
Feng Xun watched this scene in amazement—it really was a divine miracle!
Fan Zhou picked up the now-dried brick and examined it. It was quite heavy and felt very firm when he tapped it with a finger.
He couldn’t help but raise the brick and wave it in front of Feng Xun. “It worked!”
“Amazing,” Feng Xun said as he took the brick to examine it. “It’s just like the bricks from the Holy Temple.”
The stone houses of the Holy Temple were personally built by the Beast God, but the houses in the tribes below the Twin Mountains were built by the Holy Temple.
The bricks the Holy Temple used to build houses were just like this.
“Then it seems this kind of brick can be used. Next, we’ll make a lot of them,” Fan Zhou said happily. It was quite simple, really.
“Alright.” Feng Xun held the brick, feeling a bit fired up inside. The rabbit knew everything—maybe he really could turn the Waterfall Tribe into the new Holy Temple!
Fan Zhou called over the hunters from the Axe Tribe and had them start making mud bricks.
The beastmen of the Axe Tribe also knew about Fan Zhou being the new High Priest, and in front of Fan Zhou, they behaved extremely obediently.
Once they saw Fan Zhou dry the mud with his bare hands, they became even more obedient, not daring to have the slightest thought of slacking off.
Fan Zhou was very satisfied. “If you can make two thousand bricks by dusk, I’ll give you a big-horned beast.”
As soon as those words left his mouth, the beastmen erupted—big-horned beast! These past few days, they had only seen others eating meat, while they could only smell the meaty aroma. It was driving them crazy with hunger—they would work hard for sure!
These beastmen acted like they had been injected with chicken blood. Fan Zhou observed for a while, and after confirming that the beastmen had learned how to make bricks, he took Feng Xun back to the cave.
The soybeans he had soaked yesterday—if he didn’t eat them soon, they would start sprouting! Of course, bean sprouts were good too, but he preferred to drink soy milk.
He ground the soybeans and hard nuts into a slurry, then poured it into a pot to boil. A beverage that could rival any milk tea shop’s creation was now ready.
After all, it was spiritual spring water—even with the beany taste, it still tasted quite good.
He sat under the grass canopy, sipping the soy milk in small sips while watching the beastmen down the mountain working hard to make mud bricks. A gust of wind blew through, taking away much of the heat.
He squinted his eyes and leaned against the wooden pillar behind him, comfortable.
“Tu Zhou.”
Feng Xun was calling him.
He turned his head and looked at the man beside him.
Freshly boiled soy milk had given Feng Xun a bit of a flush in his cheeks, and some slightly long, soft strands of hair fluttered in the wind, revealing his perfectly sculpted features.
He smiled instinctively.
Looking at handsome men really did lift one’s mood.
It was just a little pity—such a dazzlingly handsome man had been born in this primitive land. Other than him, no one could appreciate this extraordinary face—Que Yu didn’t count. Que Yu sticking to Feng Xun was purely because Feng Xun was a big deal.
Only him!
Only he could understand Feng Xun’s beauty.
Fan Zhou examined him closely, both regretful and amazed. Feng Xun didn’t understand.
But that anxious feeling from yesterday returned.
He immediately grabbed Fan Zhou’s hand. “I want to kiss you.”
“……”
Fan Zhou blinked.
Seeing he didn’t respond, Feng Xun directly reached out, wrapped his arms around Fan Zhou’s waist, and kissed him on the lips.
Feng Xun’s movements were very gentle, completely unlike the heat from the night before—this time, they were sweet.
Just then, another breeze blew by, once again taking away much of the heat. Fan Zhou, who had originally intended to push him away, closed his eyes and casually set the wooden bowl in his hand down on the ground.
Forget it—such a handsome guy, it wasn’t like he was losing out.
Receiving Fan Zhou’s response, Feng Xun secretly let out a breath of relief. In fact, from the very first sip of soy milk, he had already wanted to kiss the rabbit.
He was sitting beside the person he liked. There was wind, there was delicious food, and when he looked up, there was a wide, boundless green forest.
This was a scene he could never have imagined when he was first exiled to the Wild Continent.
His heart felt peaceful, but there was a warm current surging in his body, making him want to kiss the rabbit at his side.
He looked over, only to see that the rabbit had once again shown that unreadable expression. So, even without Fan Zhou’s answer, he couldn’t hold back and kissed him.
The rabbit’s thoughts could only be occupied by him!
When this gentle kiss ended, the red on Feng Xun’s cheeks hadn’t faded, and Fan Zhou’s face was now tinged with the same color.
He lowered his eyes, feeling a bit awkward. It was he who said he didn’t have kissing thoughts toward Feng Xun, and yet it was also he who was hugging Feng Xun and kissing him like he couldn’t let go.
Beauty was misleading!
“Sweet,” Feng Xun said with a smile in his voice right beside his ear. And with those words, another kiss landed on his lips.
He hesitated for a moment, then gave in with a sense of hopeless resignation and closed his eyes. Whatever—it was already bad enough that he had transmigrated to this godforsaken place, and with beauty right in front of him, of course, he should enjoy it!
And once he started enjoying it, he ended up enjoying it on the hay mat.
By the time it was over, it was getting dark outside.
He covered his eyes with both hands, unable to understand how things had escalated this far. He just wanted some pure, innocent kisses!
Feng Xun, however, was very happy, playing with the tail of the person in his arms while thinking about getting some tree oil.
When male-male partners wanted to do it, they needed to use tree oil. Tree oil comes from a type of common, low-growing tree. One only needed to peel off the bark to get a sticky brown liquid.
That kind of tree used to be everywhere, just like the beast-spirit flower, but as the beast-spirit flower went extinct, those trees gradually disappeared too.
But there should have been some near the Waterfall Tribe. He planned to go look for it when he had time.
He hadn’t paid attention to that thing before—what a misstep.
Of course, he could ask the beastmen of the Waterfall Tribe about it, but the rabbit was very shy, so he decided he’d search for it himself slowly.
Very soon, the noisy voices of beastmen came from outside—it was evening.
The foraging team had come to deliver wild vegetables again.
The Axe Tribe’s beastmen had probably finished their work as well.
Fan Zhou, annoyed, slapped away the mischievous hand behind him and got up with slightly weak legs.
There was a whole pile of work waiting for him.
“You can turn into your beast form, I’ll carry you there,” Feng Xun said considerately.
Fan Zhou thought about it. He didn’t like others seeing his beast form, but right now, his legs were indeed a bit weak…
This person was supposed to be responsible for it anyway.
He turned into his beast form.
Feng Xun picked him up, kissed him first, then left the cave.
Feng Xun went to inspect the mud bricks.
He could count up to a thousand. The beastmen from the axe tribe hadn’t slacked off—he counted three sets of a thousand, plus several dozen more.
Fan Zhou was also a bit surprised. It seemed these beastmen truly wanted to eat meat. He asked Feng Xun to bring over a big-horned beast.
The big-horned beasts and mud beasts he raised were all tethered beneath his cave, right next to the chicken coop.
Upon receiving the big-horned beast, the beastmen were very happy, thanking Fan Zhou repeatedly before cheerfully heading back.
The beastmen from the Waterfall Tribe’s foraging team gathered around to look at the mud bricks. Though they couldn’t tell what was special about them, they were very excited. These would be used to build the pens—soon they would be able to raise prey too!
After the foraging team’s beastmen left, Feng Xun let Fan Zhou squat in his palm, and he held Fan Zhou while going brick by brick to dehydrate the mud.
Once the dehydration was done, Fan Zhou directed him to stack the bricks into a waist-high, one-meter-tall kiln.
Fan Zhou planned to make some cement using plant ash. Plant ash could be used to make cement. Without adding anything else, just using plant ash alone—this method was something he’d seen online, though he still needed to test it properly.
Cement had a lot of benefits—when building houses, it could be used as an adhesive, and could also be smeared on exterior walls to protect them from wind and rain erosion.
It could also be used to build roads.
However, he had never made cement before and needed to figure it out gradually. After listening to Fan Zhou’s explanation, Feng Xun was amazed—this wasn’t just cement, it was stone.
Man-made stone—amazing!
Thinking of the wedding ceremony in winter, Feng Xun was full of motivation. He wanted to give the rabbit an unforgettable wedding!
The next morning, the beastmen came again to get sweetwater.
After receiving his share, Hu Sheng didn’t leave. He seriously told Fan Zhou that he needed to talk to Feng Xun and asked if Feng Xun could come down for a moment.
So Fan Zhou went up to call Feng Xun down.
“What is it?” Feng Xun looked at Hu Sheng curiously.
Hu Sheng beamed as he said, “Yesterday, while repairing the road, I used the excuse of needing to pee and secretly went to look for tree oil. I found a few short trees—they’re right where we caught Tu Zhou last time.”
“…Not bad.” After the initial surprise, Feng Xun was delighted. “You can go back now, I’ll put in a good word for you.”
Upon hearing this, Hu Sheng was overjoyed. Wonderful! Sure enough, he couldn’t just focus on Tu Zhou—he needed to get close to Feng Xun too!
Carrying his water bucket, Hu Sheng nearly skipped away. Feng Xun watched his cheerful figure bounce off, then turned and returned to the cave.
It was another busy day—some repaired roads, some cleared land, others made mud bricks.
Feng Xun and Fan Zhou tried making cement.
Following the steps he had seen, Fan Zhou poured the plant ash into water and stirred it, then shaped the ash into clumps and burned them in the fire. After burning, he took them out and stirred them into water again—thus, the plant ash cement was ready.
It sounded simple, but it took Fan Zhou and Feng Xun three days of trial and error before they succeeded.
Fan Zhou breathed a sigh of relief. No matter what, success was all that mattered.
At this moment, Niu Shan, Niu Li, and Xiong Li were getting ready to go out again to carry hard nuts.
The night before the three were set to depart, after Feng Xun and Fan Zhou’s routine kisses, Fan Zhou was completely exhausted and drowsy.
Feng Xun looked at his flushed cheeks and felt a wave of tenderness in his heart, but when he thought of what he was about to say, he felt a little guilty: “Relying on just the three of them to carry hard nuts is too tiring. How about adding one more beastman?”
Fan Zhou was very sleepy. When he heard this, he let out a nasal hum, which counted as agreement.
“Then let’s send Hu Sheng? He’s very diligent and hardworking.”
Fan Zhou let out another hum through his nose—fine.
“Then, before he leaves, let Hu Sheng join the Waterfall Tribe?”
?
Fan Zhou lifted his heavy eyelids and, under the moonlight, looked suspiciously at the person in front of him. “Why?”
“He has a good attitude about admitting his mistakes, and if he joins the tribe, the other beastmen from the Axe Tribe will work even harder.”
“…Why are you suddenly speaking up for Hu Sheng?” Fan Zhou was puzzled.
“He told me where to find tree oil.” Rubbing his nose, Feng Xun answered honestly.
He didn’t want to lie to the rabbit.
Tree oil?
Fan Zhou turned his head, and after a while, finally dug up from the original body’s memories what that stuff was used for.
His face darkened—this dumb tiger, what nonsense was he always thinking about!
