In the dream, the Dragon God said he could grant the black dragon Nidhogg one wish.
Nidhogg: “Child.”
Dragon God: “I am a god, not some turtle in a wishing well. You are the last ancient dragon on the continent—that cannot be changed. Choose another.”
Nidhogg: “I want all ancient dragons resurrected.”
Dragon God: “The ancient dragon clan of Prell is unique. Your fate lies beyond the gods’ control. I’m surprised you’ve survived this long. Change it, child. I promise I won’t refuse your next wish.”
Nidhogg: “Then I want those damn elves next door to admit, face to face, that dragons are superior to elves!”
Dragon God: “…Did you just say you want a child? Any specific race requirements?”

Author’s Note:
Dragon God: Are you my subject, or are you playing God?
Nidhogg (Growing Mad): You can’t grant this, you can’t grant that—and you call yourself a god?
*This chapter stems from an old joke: God said He’d grant me one wish. I asked for world peace. He said it was too difficult and told me to choose another. I wished for wealth. He pondered, then said, “Bring me the globe—let me take another look.”
